Estate Planning Opportunities “My will reflects my values"
My will is going to send a message that shows what I cared about during my life. My legacy will provide hope, love and care to future generations.
Ways to Build a Legacy
You can build your own meaningful legacy through the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Foundation (OSLC Foundation or Foundation) in several simple ways:
You can establish a new or contribute to an existing endowment fund to support your favorite ministries and programs in perpetuity.
Ask your family to direct memorial gifts in your honor to the OSLC Foundation to add to an existing endowment or establish one in your name. If you have a favorite ministry or program, let them know in advance as you think about your estate planning.
Set an example for your children and tithe a portion of your estate to the Foundation to support your favorite ministries and programs in perpetuity.
The Foundation offers a variety of ways to support Our Savior’s ministries and programs and can provide basic information on what might work best for your situation. Of course your estate planning attorney will be the most versed on Oregon estate planning laws and regulations and estate tax saving strategies.
Gifts: Donate cash, checks, shares of stock or other appreciated assets.
List the Foundation as your beneficiary: Most asset and investment accounts allow you to list beneficiaries. As a result, you can name the Foundation as a beneficiary for a life insurance policy, an IRA, or a bank account among other investments.
Designate a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to the Foundation in your will or living trust. (Adding a codicil to your will or an amendment to your trust is an easy way to make such a change to an existing will or trust.)
Charitable Remainder Trust: When you make a tax deductible donation to the Foundation in the form of a Charitable Remainder Trust, you will be provided with a lifetime income. Upon your death the remaining assets will go to the Foundation in your name.
