Our Savior's Lutheran Church Choir

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord” Psalm 100:1

At Our Saviors, the church choir is a welcoming group that is inclusive of all voices. No musical training or experience is required to take part in singing with our small-but-mighty choir. We inspire as we lead the congregation, and we empower you to lift your voice in praise.

Stop by a Wednesday evening rehearsal or join us Sunday morning – all our welcome in our ministry of song, which spreads joy through singing and builds community through praise.

From September through June, the choir offers 3 and 4 part choral anthems. We draw upon various music traditions to praise and honor God, from blended contemporary anthems to classical choral works. Through hymns and psalms, we lead the congregation in singing to offer praises that uplift the spirit.

All Are Welcome - Come to a Rehearsal and Join Us
Have you sung in a choir before? Never sung in a choir before, but would like to try? Have a personal improvement goal around anxiety, public speaking, or using your voice? Our Choir Ministry is a place to raise your voice and grow together. All are welcome in our choir. No formal audition is required – drop by on a Wednesday evening to rehearsal, or reach out to our director, Claire Robertson-Preis, with your questions.
Our Choir consists of singers who’ve been with this church for 50+ years, and singers who have been in choir for 1 year. Together, we learn and grow as musicians and people. Whether your voice is strong or soft, trained or untrained, you will be a valued part of the whole. If you feel called to raise your voice in praise, we encourage you to join us.

Commitment and Fellowship
  • The choir season runs from September to June
  • Rehearsals take place in those months on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 -8:30 p.m.
  • We warm up Sunday mornings at 9:00 am before worship services begin.

Our members find that singing together is an antidote to loneliness and sadness. We celebrate one another's joys and sorrows. Many of our choir members participate actively in other church ministries, energized by the experience of singing together.
Our Wednesday rehearsals are sites of joy and musical enthusiasm, as we come together with the shared purpose of learning new music and praising God. In addition to musical growth, members often find deep and lasting friendships within the choir.

Join Us
We invite you to attend a rehearsal or speak with our choir director, Claire, to learn more. Come and take your place in this long and cherished tradition of sacred music.

“Sing unto the Lord a new song; sing unto the Lord, all the earth.” — Psalm 96:1

We look forward to welcoming you into the choir.

About our Choir Director
Claire Robertson-Preis’s commitment to the human voice as a means for connection and service is central to her work as the Choir Director of Our Saviors Lutheran Church (Lake Oswego). As a mezzo-soprano, she brings an “expansive, warm voice” (Oregon Arts Watch, 2024), to bear on artistic projects ranging from immersive operas to choral works. Whether on the podium as a director, or at the keyboard as a voice teacher, she reflects curiosity and helps students connect to their unique voice through technique. Recently, Claire has also served as music director for RHS Opening Act Theatre’s Mean Girls (2026), Addams Family (2024), Failure: A Love Story (2023), and Mamma Mia! (2022).

About our Pianist
Marcia Fischer received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance and music education from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University, and her master’s degree in piano performance from The College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University, both in Ohio. She comes from a long line of Lutheran church musicians and has been making music in churches for most of her life. Prior to joining Our Saviors, Marcia was on the music staff at Living Savior Lutheran in Tualatin, and Good Shepherd Lutheran in Fremont, CA. She enjoys leading worship through music, collaborating with pastors and other church musicians.
Before moving to Oregon in 1989, Marcia taught music in schools in Elgin Illinois and Sandusky Ohio and private piano lessons in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey and California. Currently she is active as a piano teacher and as a collaborative pianist for local schools, choral organizations, and soloists.
Marcia and her husband live in West Linn. They enjoy hiking, traveling, experiencing new restaurants, attending local cultural events and spending time with their family and friends.
